The exhibition area includes the west room on the first floor and half the north room in the Casa de la Tercia. It is a suitable and beautiful place, with a rustic rowlock brick floor, a wooden roof and horseshoe arches which give the museum a very unique distribution.

Because of the geographical location, size and fertile land of the Baena district, with a natural way of communication – the Guadajoz River – many people have lived in this area since prehistoric times. Different towns and cultures (Tartessians, Iberians, Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths, Moors...) settled in this land and have left evidence, many of it being real art.

The collections basically include paleontological remains, and mainly archaeological, found by chance or in archaeological sites. There are remains from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages, including the Metal Age, the Orientalising Age, as well as Iberian, Roman and Visigoth times, etc. One of the important items that can be seen is an Iberian lion from Minguillar Hill, or the votive group found in the Torreparedones Iberian sanctuary.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, 10.30am to 2pm. Thursday to Saturday, 10.30am to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm. Open on public holidays and days prior to public holidays.

Tickets: 2 € Children and retired people: 1 €
