In 1550, two brotherhoods were created in the church of San Francisco, that of the Cristo de Vera Cruz and that of the Santo Entierro y Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, merging both corporations and adopting the double name that it has today: Muy Antigua, Real e Ilustre Hermandad Franciscana de Penitencia de la Vera Cruz, Santísimo Entierro de Cristo y María Santísima en su Soledad (Very Ancient, Royal and Illustrious Franciscan Brotherhood of Penitence of the Vera Cruz, Holy Burial of Christ and Mary Most Holy in her Solitude). This Brotherhood, making a long-standing wish come true, has converted the old Chapel of La Soledad into a museum to exhibit the artistic-religious heritage that it has accumulated over the centuries, among other things, in the Museum of La Soledad you can find all the necessary items to carry out its penitential procession on Good Friday night: cross, rods and insignia, vestments, shawls, crowns and mantle of Our Lady of La Soledad, insignia of the Brotherhood, banner, etc. The museum also contains images of great artistic and historical value.
