A city that borders with Portugal, Ayamonte has a marina near the mouth of the Guadiana River.

The city has three different regions: the town, with its old houses built by Spaniards who made their fortune in America in the 16th and 17th century; the tourist area of Isla Canela and the Punta del Moral, typical for the large number of starfish that can be seen at low tide in summer.
