Wine Must Festival

This popular festival is held on the last Saturday in November in the village of Atajate, in the province of Malaga.

The festivities commence in the village square with a street party that lasts until the early hours and offers visitors the chance to sample the recently fermented wine must.

The festival is a tribute to Atajate’s wine producing tradition. It was founded some 20 years ago to commemorate the area's rich history of traditions. After the grape harvest, the villagers donate part of the wine must – obtained in the old style and bottled in demijohns – for free distribution at the festival.

Over the years, the Wine Must Festival has become one of the most popular events in the area, offering the chance to buy must produced using totally traditional methods.
