Puerto Moral
Puerto Moral Nature Reserve, which is within Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park and the municipal area of Aroche, occupies an often mountainous area, although parallel formations of gentle to moderate slopes also appear. On some slopes there are gullies caused by river erosion, which form valleys with sharp slopes at either side. The reserve pertains to the Bios Foundation, and is where this foundation undertakes its activity of environmental development, which is especially aimed at the conservation and growth of black vulture populations.
The highest peaks in the reserve barely surpass 600 m altitude, with the 712 m of the Pico de Aroche being notable. In the vicinity of the reserve the highest altitude reached is 506 metres.
The entire estate contains a mixed forest of oaks and cork oaks in excellent condition and it is a place where numerous protected birds breed, spend the winter and migrate to, including black vultures, golden and short-toed eagles, eagle-owls, kestrels, black storks, robins, warblers and turtledoves. It is also home to mammals such as genets, badgers, polecat, foxes, deer and wild boar in addition to numerous populations of amphibians and reptiles.
