Castle Almohade of Aroche
The Castle Almohade of Aroche is an Almohad castle built at the end of the 11th and beginning of the 12th century, crowning the hill where the town of Aroche stands, in Huelva.
Within the walled enclosure there is a bullring built in 1804. The current entrance to the fortress dates back to the 18th century, with a semicircular arch and finished by a pinnacle of Baroque style on the crown of the wall.
The Castle Almohade of Aroche, following the model of Moorish fortresses of the province, is a Quadriburgium, its plan is rectangular, with ten towers, four of them at the corners and six more along the sections of wall. These towers are either square or rectangular.
The fortress has a direct access gateway which could correspond to the first phase of construction of the castle, which is located on the southern face; known as the "Queen's Gate".
