Casa del Pósito - Museo Municipal
The original building of the Casa del Pósito or Cilla, in Archidona, dates back to the 16th century, although the façade is from the 18th century. Both sides feature two stone shields with an oval field, the one on the left of the door, with the arms of Pedro Téllez-Girón “the Great” (1574-1624), 3rd Duke of Osuna, and the one on the right those of his wife Catalina Enríquez de Ribera and Cortés de Zúñiga. The building was used for storing crops and the tributes in kind of the Dukes of Osuna, Lords of La Villa.
It was converted into a Museum in 2004 and has three rooms. The first is a journey through the History of Archidona, from the Palaeolithic era, featuring the Cave of Las Grajas, to the 21st century.
The Hall of La Villa is both a museum and an exhibition hall for both permanent and temporary exhibitions, and it is also adapted to meet the protocol requirements for events and ceremonies.
The Collective Memory Hall displays a synthesis of the city's different religious, cultural and traditional events.
