Biography
Antonio Rengel Ramos was born in Huelva in 1903 and died in Seville in 1961. His mother Rosa, who loved flamenco, taught him how to sing. He soon stood out because of his way of singing fandangos and he became popular in the province He also stood out singing serranas. He was considered to be the best singer of that style in history.
He made his debut in 1923 in the La Merced Bullring, sponsored by Antonio Chacón. He recorded his first albums with Niño Ricardo for the Odeón label and he moved to Seville, where he stayed until he died. He sang with Pepe Marchena, Vallejo, Aznalcóllar, Mairena, Pastora Pavón and Pepe Pinto. He managed the Lisboa Guesthouse on Calle San Eloy, until he died. He created his own fandango style and enhanced the styles of his land, and went down in history for that.
