Portichuelo Square is, without doubt, one of the most fascinating examples of traditional Andalusian architecture, its most notable feature being the Chapel/gallery of the Virgin of El Socorro, built in 1715 and yet another of the chapels that dot the ancient Easter procession route of the Arriba Brotherhood, reminders all of them to passers-by of the continual need to practice their religion. In architectural terms, it is a highly original building, which, in spite of its complex structure, bordered on the popular style.
