Located in a corner of the town of Andújar, not far from an old Capuchin convent, the Chapel of El Cuadro de la Virgen is a small monument, but it has enormous cultural, religious and sentimental value. When it was built it was on the boundary of the town and at the start of the old pathway to the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora la Virgen de la Cabeza. It is the place where most pilgrims pray before proceeding on foot to the "Cerro del Cabezo" hill along the track leading to Los Molinos.
It was built in 1610 by the maestro Rafael Pérez de Ortega before being rebuilt in 1856 and restored in the 1990s, under the guidelines of the "Escuela Taller" Workshop School. The chapel has a semicircular arch flanked by pilasters showing a painting of the Virgen de la Cabeza that came from the Parish Church of Santa María, as the original burned in a fire.
