Andalusia shines in the 2023 Tourism Awards

Andalusia, a Spanish paradise for tourists, celebrated World Tourism Day with a glamorous gala ceremony for the prestigious 2023 Andalusian Tourism Awards in Jaén. At an exciting event at the New Teatro Infanta Leonor, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports paid tribute to the figures and organisations that have taken the magic of Andalusia to the whole world.

The 'Ambassador' prize was awarded to Manuel Carrasco, the charismatic singer-songwriter from Isla Cristina whose music is played around the globe, resonating with the spirit of Andalusia in every note. Carrasco, nominated for a Latin Grammy Award, has become a living symbol of Andalusian charm.


In the 'Tourism Business Trajectory' category the Bodegas González Byass in Jerez, established more than a hundred years ago, were rewarded for their wine and food experiences, which generate more than 200,000 visitors a year. Picturesque Ronda with its rich cultural and natural heritage was named 'Tourist Destination of Excellence' as the recipient of more than 1.7 million visitors a year.


The Casa de Andalucía in Barcelona won the 'Tourism Excellence of Institutions, Associations and Foundations' award for its tireless efforts to promote Andalusia's fascinating culture. Meanwhile, the 'Best Practices in Tourism Employment' prize went to Valle del Este Hotel Golf Spa in Almería for the quality of its services and its commendable track record in promoting gender equality in the workplace.


In the digital domain, Nomads Turismo and 1yCeros won the 'Communication' and 'Tourism Training and Research' categories, respectively, for their innovative digital solutions that have encouraged new digital travellers to discover the marvels of Andalusia. 


In 'Tourism Innovation', the Hotel Boutique Suite Generis in Córdoba was rewarded for its pioneering focus on digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence to offer guests a personalised experience.


This year tribute was also paid to accessibility and inclusive tourism, with entrepreneur María del Carmen Ángel Úbeda receiving recognition for , a travel agency specialising in people with functional diversity. 

Lastly, in the 'Tourism Sector Worker' category, Eva de Dios Martínez, a local tourist guide in Jaén, was applauded for her dedication to the design and creation of tourist routes that have won warm praise from visitors.

The awards do not only celebrate excellence in tourism but serve as a testimony of Andalusia's vast cultural and natural heritage, which continues to captivate the hearts of millions all over the world.
