Fuente Techá – Sierra Prieta – PR-A 273 Trail
The Fuente Techá – Sierra Prieta – PR-A 273 Trail starts at the confluence of Cañada de Fuente Techá and the forest track of Sierra Prieta, enabling us to reach the very top of this Sierra. Next to the spring, an old limekiln reveals one of the uses of the local limestone, that of creating lime to whiten the houses.
The first section runs alongside the dale, gradually winding its way upwards away from the dale towards the rock formation known as Las Ventanillas. A steep section between thickets and copses of pines trees take us to the so-called “Castillito de las Ventanillas”.
After crossing Las ventanillas, the path continues practically along the roped one, which is sometimes very steep, revealing unusual mountain vegetation right up to the peak on a small plateau. At the summit of Sierra Prieta, just above some rocks, towers a dome-like apex. It is the highest in the region, after the Sierra de las Nieves mountains.
For the journey back, at Las Ventanillas we can take a different route that also leads to the forest track.
