Finca Experimental El Zahorí farm belongs to Almuñecar Town Council. It is 7 km from the town and since it started up in 1986 it has been researching and passing on knowledge to farmers. The main tests involve mangos (more than 23 varieties have been planted), custard apple, avocados, limes, lychees, macadamia nuts, sapodilla plums, jujubes and star fruit, amongst others.

Some of the activities include experiences related to the control of erosion in the soil by means of plots, control with various plant treatments, etc.

The results obtained in these tests have been communicated to farmers in the area, presented at several scientific conferences and have been the subject of doctoral theses and various research articles published in specialised magazines.

To get to the farm you need to go along a hiking path on a 4x4 or on foot, to the northeast of the centre, via the Verde River and Ítrabo ravine, or via the Taramay road.

Opening times: Monday to Friday: 8am to 3pm. Closed at the weekends and on public holidays. Summer opening times: 1 June to 15 September: 8am to 2pm.
