Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción
Built on the site of the mosque which was destroyed after the reconquest, its reconstruction in 1552 was the work of Diego de Vergara, the architect of the Bishopric of Malaga. It was seriously damaged in the earthquake which struck the province in the late 19th century, although it was repaired with the introduction of several modifications in 1891.
Worth noting on the exterior is the bell tower. On the interior, the central nave is covered with an extremely valuable Mudéjar coffered ceiling of great artistic beauty. There are also interesting images of the Virgen de la Inmaculada (18th century) and a Christ child (18th century), as well as an oil painting of Saint Paul the hermit by an anonymous popular artist dating from the second half of the 18th century.
