After the conquest of Almeria by the Catholic Monarchs, in 1489, the former "Mezquita Mayor" (10th century) becomes Cathedral, but the earthquake of 1522 destroyed it.

Between the end of the 16th century and early 17th century, the current "Iglesia de San Juan" is built on the same place. In this church is now preserved remains of the "Muro de la Quibla" and "Nicho del Mihrab", with Almohad decoration from the 12th century.

April 1st to September 30th: From 7 to 7:30 pm. except on Wednesday and Friday. October 1st to March 31st: From 6 to 6:30 pm. except on Wednesday and Friday.
