Plaza de Toros Monumental Las Palomas

Although official festivities have been regularly celebrated in Algeciras since 1765, according to the records there was no (provisional) bullring as such until 1851. In 1868 the legendary bullring of La Perseveranciawas inaugurated. It bore witness to one hundred years of bullfights, and was the predecessor of the present day Monumental Bullring of Las Palomas, officially opened in 1969.

The Algeciras bullring, classified as second category, is one of the largest in Spain in its segment. It currently houses the Municipal Bullfighting School of Algeciras and is the scene of the bullfighting festivities of the Royal Fair, in June.

It looks out over the Fair Ground, and all year round, it hosts many musical shows and motor-sport related events. It has capacity for twelve thousand spectators.
