Iglesia Conventual de la Encarnación
From the early La Encarnación convent only remains the church, which is known by the name of church of El Carmen. The foundation of the convent dates back to October 10, 1590 and was sponsored and financially backed by the 4th Count of Alcaudete, Mr Francisco de Córdoba y Velasco.
The church, of Mannerist style, follows the architectural designs of the era, as well as the special characteristics of the convent churches of the Barefoot Carmelites. The single-nave layout opens up forming a short transept covered by a dome, which, after the last intervention, has revealed a series of paintings representing the four evangelists, Saint Teresa and Saint Juan de la Cruz.
Three chapels are located on both sides of the nave that increase in size as they come closer to the transept. At the foot of the church is the choir, upon a basket-handle arch. Behind the presbytery is the chapel of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, covered by a Baroque style vault.
