Depósitos Romanos y Fuente de la Salada
Situated on the side of La Coracha hill, in Alcalá de los Gazules, La Salada Roman Sites and Fountain is a water site made up of two tanks with barrel vaults. They are built using perfectly squared ashlar blocks, and were made between the 1st century BC and 2nd century AD. As well tanks, they are also triumphal arches, and there used to be the plinth of a temple dedicated to the spring's god.
Next to the tanks there is a staircase that used to lead to the top, where there used to be a fountain (nimphaeum) dedicated to a protective nymph of the area. This water site aimed to combine religion and monuments, and the use of a fountain.
In medieval times the water was channelled from the sites to the side fountain with 8 basins.
