Pensión Hospedería Virgen del Saliente

The Hospedería Virgen del Saliente, retreat and meeting point for pilgrims. Located in the Santuario del Saliente, it has been declared a Historic - Artistic Monument and dates back to 1716.

The Hospedería Virgen del Saliente is one of the highlights of Eastern Andalusia as it is the largest monastery with a tradition dating back to the 17th century, it has been adapted for rural tourism and fully refurbished with a view to offering services and facilities which are ideal for relaxation whilst still maintaining the style characteristic of former eras like the Neoclassical Baroque.

It can accommodate up to 26 people in its 13 twin rooms, two of which are suites and all have their own private bathroom and an internet connection. It offers facilities for conventions and business meetings with a capacity for up to 150 people. There is another smaller salon with a capacity for 80 people and smaller business groups. It has a games room.

The highlight is the Restaurante Virgen Saliente seating up to 150 where you can savour the most exquisite dishes from the regional cuisine. It has an open-air terrace in summer where you can delight in the beautiful landscapes surrounding the inn whilst enjoying your food, it seats 100 persons which can be extended to 300. Car-parking is available. The Inn has a charming, open-air, central stone patio surrounded by the different parts of the Monastery-cum-Inn.

The Hospedería Virgen del Saliente is outside the town centre of Albox to the north-east of the Almanzora Valley, an area well-known for being home to a number of different archaeological sites. It is located 1,064 metres above sea level and the town had about 11,042 inhabitants until 2010. The first human settlers date from the Neolithic period, but the founders were the Moors; "Albox" means "the forest" in Arabic.
