Declared of National Tourist Interest in 1999, this is one of the most important festivities of Aguilar de la Frontera. It has a deep-rooted tradition, as its first three brotherhoods (Veracruz, Nazareno and Soledad) date from the end of the 16th century. Today, eighteen brotherhoods relive, year after year, the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ.
We could mention some of the singular images of this grand week: for example, different Stations of the Cross in the mornings of Holy Monday and Holy Tuesday, respectively; the route of Jesus Fallen along the Clock Tower or through the San José Plaza; the appearance of Christ of the Expiration on the morning of Good Friday; all day of Good Friday with the Sermon of El Paso and Blessing of Jesus the Nazarene in San José Plaza in the morning, while at nightfall the holy story of the Seven Words and the act of the Descent are carried out; and the joyful morning of Resurrection Sunday on Paseo de las Coronadas with the images of the Risen Jesus and the Virgin of la Antigua.
