La Villa de Aguilar
Standing within the centre of the Castillo, La Villa de Aguilar ist the oldest quarter of the city of Aguilar de la Frontera. Before the fifteenth century, it was the main centre of the town. However, the only remaining part of that section of medieval streets is a large part of a winding street (called Noreta), who runs along the edge of the church and is used to access the old fort. It is is a striking view.
In the highest part of calle Cuestezuela, visitors can see the only remaining gateway in the ancient walls. Dating back to the last part of the fifteenth century, facing north, it is made from sandstone and has elements of Mudejar architecture.
The highlights of this gate would be the small windows in the form of "cross and globe" and the coats of arms of Alonso de Aguilar and of his wife, Catalina de Pacheco (since the 1970s, they have been placed on the central balcony of the Town Hall's façade).
