Iglesia Parroquial del Santísimo Cristo de la Salud
According to tradition, the image of Cristo de la Luz protected the village of Aguilar de la Frontrera from an epidemic in the early 17th century. Thus, in 1611, the neighbourhood acquired that house where the wood used to build a shrine dedicated in her honour was worshipped, calling it, since then, Santísimo Cristo de la Salud.
Of a single nave, with altarpieces and adjacent chapels, it is covered with a reduced vault. The main altar is covered with a cupola on pendentives and has a main altarpiece (José González, 1799-1783) presided by the Cristo de la Salud, a small sculpture (middle-end of the 17th century).
Other heritage sites of interest are the Baroque stone façade, the altarpiece and image of San Cristóbal, of mannerist aesthetic, and the 18th century figures of San Miguel and the Jesuit San Francisco Javier, among others.
At the end of Calle San Cristobal is the Camino de Vado Castro, where the Cross of Gil Gómez is located (first half of the 16th century).
