Agrón
Agrón belongs to the Poniente Granadino. The towns in this area are becoming an interesting benchmark for tourism, thanks to their beautiful location.
It is situated near the Bermejales reservoir, on the spectacular northern slopes of Sierra Tejeda Mountains. They are magnificent brownish-red mountains, lined with the green of vineyards, yew trees and pine forests; and in winter its peaks turn white with snow.

History
Its place name is reminiscent of Latin (agro, agriculture) and it may well refer to the agricultural activity, which has been the main way of life of the people who have lived here throughout history.
The municipality, like all those in this Poniente Granadino area, has been connected to Alhama de Granada historically – it has witnessed the Roman Empire, the long Moorish reign, the Christianisation after the Wars of Granada, and in the 19th century, the presence of Napoleonic troops during the War of Independence.
