The old Cortijo Paredes farm house, located in the municipal district of Abrucena, was refurbished by the Andalusian Regional Government and converted into an environmental education centre and hostel under the name of Aula de Naturaleza Paredes, for clearly educational purposes.
It is managed by a company called Natures, an Andalusian Cooperative Company. The educational centre is located in natural surroundings in the Sierra Nevada which was designated as a Nature Reserve in 1989. Paredes invites you to share a unique experience in contact with nature, contributing to the development of attitudes and commitments that will ensure respect, care and protection of the environment.
The Albergue Aula de Naturaleza Paredes consists of two buildings, one is the hostel and the other contains the classrooms and workshops. There are 40 beds distributed in different rooms sleeping from 4 to 10 people. They have heating, use solar energy (electricity and hot water) and there are fireplaces, a dining room, classrooms, workshops, a swimming pool and extensive areas for games. Suitable for the disabled. Activities include archery, astrotourism, environmental education, nature sports, camping, courses and nature tourism.
