This dolmen, together with the Viera and El Romeral dolmens, all form a group which dates from the Copper Age. The date of this particular monument has been established at the beginning of the Copper Age, around 2,500 B.C.

The most recent of the three is the Romeral dolmen, which dates from the late Copper Age, around 1,800 B.C. It comprises a large oval chamber which forms a covered gallery with a narrow opening. This is the only one of the three dolmens which has an inscription, consisting of a series of anthropomorphic figures; it can be found on the first slab to the left of the entrance. It is worth noting the size of the capstone or overhead slab at the end; it measures 6 metres in length and 7 metres wide and weighs approximately 180 tons.
